How I upgraded to iOS5
After gazillion attempts, I’ve finally upgraded Penelope to iOS5. Getting the software was like looking for a needle in the middle of a hay stack. And it’s obvious that I’m not the only person to experience this and I think I’d like to share to you guys what I did. Actually, I just learned it from the internet as well. It’s just a matter of choice in which way you’d like to do it, and this is what worked for me.
STEP 1: I went to this website to download the firmware. You guys are probably wondering why I have to go to a seperate website to download the firmware when you can download it straight from iTunes. Well, I’ve tried that for several times and it didn’t really work out to well due to heavy traffic and high consumer demands for iOS5. So imagine this as a shortcut.
STEP 2: Wait for it to finish downloading. After that I went to iTunes.Oh and be sure that your iTunes is up to date. The next thing to do is to hold down Shift and click Restore. A window will appear and all you have to do is navigate it to where you saved your firmware and click it.

STEP 3: The waiting part. Then the next process is familiar territory and I’m pretty sure you can go through with it since the iPod is just restoring everything. There is also a part when the iOS5 is finally installed where in you’ll need to navigate your iPod to configure the required settings
STEP 4: Experience the greatest iOS ever.
*diclaimer: I’m not a pro with devices and softwares. It just so happened that I’m to stubborn to give up finding ways to get what I want. And I want iOS5. HEHE. And I repeat I’m only sharing what I did to give those who had a hard time like me an idea of a better way.
I hope this gives you guys an idea on what to do. Goodluck.
